Review by hotel critic
Our family vacation at Óstán Loch Altan was quite an experience. While the hotel was pleasant, our stay started with a musty-smelling room, which prompted a quick and smooth room change thanks to the very nice Grainne at check-in. The staff throughout our stay were welcoming and worked hard to make us feel at home. The hotel's location was a real highlight, positioned perfectly for exploring the stunning national park and nearby beaches. We enjoyed a nice breakfast each morning, which was great to kickstart our adventures, especially when venturing out on a half-day walk along what was once a train track between Falcarragh and Gweedore. The kids loved running around in the open spaces and playing as we wandered through the hills and valleys of Gortahork. We also found time to enjoy the local charm of Gortahork and its thriving windsurfing scene, which the family found exciting. Dinner at the bar/restaurant was delightful and very reasonable-two courses for €23. Óstán Loch Altan offered a comfortable stay with family-friendly amenities; it's definitely a place worth considering for an eco-conscious getaway.
